Patrice Delaveau (FRA), riding 11-year-old Holsteiner gelding Lacrimoso 3 HDC (Landjunge x Cascavelle), and Lauren Hough (USA), riding 11-year-old Oldenburg gelding Cornet 39, (Cornet Obolensky x Caletto I), were the two riders to jump a second time.
First to go in the order, Delaveau delivered a clear round at 31.59 seconds that Hough didn’t catch, crowning the French rider with the win. Delaveau commented that he felt his horse was more willing today than in yesterday’s Longines Speed Challenge.
Quentin Judge (USA), riding Thursday night’s winner HH Fyloe (Burggraaf x Heartbreaker), had the fastest four-fault round and placed in third. And last to go in the first round, Sheikh Ali Bin Khalid Al Thani (QAT), aboard 10-year-old bay Dutch Warmblood Anyway II (No Limit x Farmer), nearly made it into the jump off with a picture-perfect round that had just the last rail, pushing him back into ninth place.
Saturday’s schedule will continue with the LA84 Foundation Trophy and the Longines Masters of Paris Trophy classes at 3 p.m., before the evening’s events of the Gucci Gold Cup at 6 p.m. and the Pro-Am Competition for Charity at 9:30 p.m.
