Brash was introduced to the four jockeys that will take part in Friday night’s inaugural HKJC 130th Anniversary Races of the Riders at the 2015 Longines Hong Kong Masters. The confirmed HKJC jockeys that will take part in this novel event are Hong Kong's current leading rider Joao Moreira, Neil Callan, Vincent Ho and Matt Chadwick.  Jockeys will go up against the top riders in a battle of speed over the same course design as the Longines Speed Challenge.  Jockeys, who will be wearing racing silks, will jump lower fences (75cm) whilst the experienced show jumping riders will be required to jump at double the height (150cm).

 

In the lead-up to this novel event jockeys will receive exclusive coaching in the paddock from some of the biggest names in the sport - current World Number 1 Scott Brash, German legend Ludger Beerbaum, Hong Kong’s Raena Leung and popular French champion Kevin Staut.

 

Last night Brash had the chance to watch his team mate that he will be coaching for Friday night’s Races of the Riders, Neil Callan, in action on the racetrack. 

 

The UK jockey did not ride a winner on the card but his highlight of the night was meeting Brash, a rider he says he has been in awe of for a number of years. 

 

“Scott is a brilliant rider and I have so much respect for what he does and what he has achieved in the saddle,” said Callan.

 

“I am so lucky to be teaming up with him in the Races of the Riders, I hope I do not let him down.”

 

It was Brash’s first visit to the races in Hong Kong and he was impressed by the experience.

 

“This racetrack is amazing, especially the way that it is nestled amongst the big skyscrapers,” Brash said.

 

The HKJC Race of the Riders will begin in the main competition ring at 9:05pm and promises to be an enthralling contest between horsemen from two completely different riding disciplines.
